Jeanel Franklin is a Resident in Counseling and is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She is also a current doctoral student studying counselor education and supervision at Old Dominion University in Norfolk. She received her M.S. Ed. in Mental Health Counseling at Old Dominion University in 2018.
Clinically, Jeanel has provided individual outpatient psychotherapy for underinsured and uninsured adults ranging from young adulthood to later adulthood. She has also provided Therapeutic Day Treatment services for elementary school-aged children. Her clinical areas of focus have included anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiance, child behavior issues, and life transition stress. She utilizes a variety of techniques including mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, and acceptance and commitment to change.
Jeanel’s primary research interests are in interprofessional communication and partnerships as utilized in integrated health care settings and counselor professional identity development. Jeanel resides in Virginia Beach with her partner and three cats.
